Lomba Da'i Cilik
A community-based Ramadan campaign held in Gedung Pakuon RT 07, designed to encourage children and youth aged 9–15 years to advocate for the importance of safe sanitation, environmental cleanliness, and the prevention of open defecation through a faith-based perspective. Through public speaking and religious storytelling, participants are empowered to spread awareness that clean and healthy living is an essential part of faith and community responsibility.
Facilitation Training
A capacity-building training program designed for university students, YSC Indonesia members, and the wider YSC Community, engaging 50+ participants across sessions held at Universitas Malahayati and Gudang Agen. The training focused on strengthening essential facilitation competencies, including public speaking, facilitation techniques, focus group discussion (FGD) management, leadership, and community engagement skills. Through interactive sessions and practical exercises, participants were equipped with the confidence and technical ability to lead discussions, mobilize communities, and support field-based interventions. As part of YSC Indonesia’s leadership development pathway, this training also prepared participants to serve as field project facilitators, campaign leaders, and members of the trainer pool, strengthening the organization’s long-term capacity to scale impact through youth-led action.
World Toilet Day Social Media Campaign
Our digital campaign was launched in commemoration of World Toilet Day through Instagram feed posts, stories, reels, and carousel content. The campaign aimed to raise public awareness on safe sanitation, the importance of ending open defecation, menstrual hygiene, and the interconnected relationship between climate resilience and sanitation systems. With the message “We’ll Always Need Toilet”, the campaign also highlighted the urgency of improving government sanitation facilities, strengthening youth engagement, and promoting cleanliness as part of faith and everyday responsibility. Through educational and advocacy-driven content, the campaign encouraged young people and communities to reflect on sanitation not only as an infrastructure issue, but as a social, environmental, and moral responsibility. IPLT Tour
Held annually at IPLT Bakung, Bandar Lampung, this educational tour brings together YSC members, volunteers, school and university students, and community cadres, engaging 50+ participants each year. The tour is designed to provide direct technical exposure to how fecal sludge is safely managed by the local government. Participants are introduced to the sludge treatment process, WASH infrastructure systems, climate and sanitation linkages, and the technical operation of treatment units, including how waste from septic tanks is received, separated, processed, and safely treated. IPLT Bakung itself is equipped with mechanical and manual processing systems to manage fecal sludge at the city level. Beyond technical learning, the activity also strengthens public awareness on the importance of scheduled desludging every three years.
Musik Tepi Sungai
Introduced sanitation through music, art installations made from trash, and drama along the Way Belau River. Local youth became the main drivers of the activity in collaboration with youth from the university. Attendees had a chance to win a free septic tank desludging. Drawn in 657 attendees.
Climate Resilient Sanitation Dissemination (in collaboration with SATO)
Held in Kampung Gudang Agen RT 046, this dissemination event served as a platform to present the implementation journey and impact of the Climate Resilient Sanitation project. The session highlighted the toilet rehabilitation process, technical approach, project outcomes, and testimonials from community users, providing a comprehensive overview of how the initiative improved access to safe and climate-resilient sanitation. The event also created a collaborative space for dialogue and partnership building, bringing together key stakeholders including the local government, PKPCK, SATO Holdings Corporation, Aqualon, community representatives, and surrounding stakeholders to explore opportunities for future collaboration and sustainable scale-up
Global Handwashing Day (in collaboration with Azzahra Islamic School)
In celebration of Global Handwashing Day, YSC Indonesia conducted an interactive school outreach session at Islamic School Azzahra, engaging 100+ students in a fun and educational learning experience. The event introduced the importance of proper handwashing, germ prevention, and basic WASH education through storytelling, creative games, and interactive classroom activities. Designed to make hygiene education enjoyable and memorable, the session encouraged children to understand that clean hands are one of the simplest yet most powerful ways to protect their health and their community. Through playful learning and age-appropriate storytelling, students were empowered to adopt healthy handwashing habits as part of their daily routine.
Festival Tepi Sungai
Mangrove Plantation (in collaboration with IYA ChildFund International in Indonesia)
Held in Kampung Gudang Agen, this coastal restoration event brought together 100+ participants, including YSC members, volunteers, students, local community members, and partners from ChildFund International’s youth platform IYA Lampung. Designed as a climate adaptation and coastal protection initiative, the event focused on restoring the local shoreline ecosystem through collective action and environmental education. A total of 100 mangrove trees were planted to help strengthen coastal resilience, reduce erosion risks, and support long-term ecosystem recovery. Beyond tree planting, the activity also promoted awareness on waste and water ecosystem restoration and introduced participants to the concept of the blue economy.
Layar GAHARU Bandar Lampung
This community screening event was held in Kelurahan Pesawahan in collaboration with Layar Gaharu Lampung, bringing together more than 50 participants, including members of the local PKK women’s group and surrounding community members. The event featured a collective viewing of Instrument of a Beating Heart, creating a reflective space for discussion, shared learning, and community connection. Beyond the screening itself, the event served as a platform for dialogue and awareness-building, encouraging participants to engage in conversations around empathy, social values, and collective responsibility within the community. By using film as a medium for engagement, the activity strengthened YSC Indonesia’s people-centered approach to education and community empowerment.
Volunteer Capacity Building
A capacity-building session designed for 10+ YSC volunteers who support the implementation of YSC Indonesia’s projects. The training focused on strengthening participants’ understanding of why water, sanitation, and hygiene are essential to public health, environmental sustainability, and community well-being, while equipping them with the knowledge, communication skills, and practical tools needed for education and field engagement.
